COMMON FOOT CONCERN AND
TREATMENT OPTIONS

For all foot ailments the Chiropodist will provide an individual treatment plan.
It is necessary as each patient is unique in their gait, pain level and footwear accommodations.
FOOT PAIN:
Plantar Fasciitis, Metatarsalgia, Morton’s Neuroma, Heel Spur, Bunion or Hammer Toe pain,  Etc.

If any of these conditions exist, the patient will be given a biomechanical examination of the foot, lower leg and hip to determine if any abnormal structural deformities exist and/or any abnormal mechanics are present. The patient is assessed both weight bearing and non-weight bearing and the gait is observed.

Most of these conditions can be treated by shoe padding or footwear modifications, footwear styles, custom casted orthotics, taping and strapping, a new exercise regime and/or the use of therapeutic measures.

CHIROPODIAL TREATMENT
  • Biomechanical assessment of the hip, lower leg and foot
  • Management plan designed for the patient to maximize their foot function
  • Subtalar joint neutral casting made for any long term orthotic management
  • Advice given for exercises to prevent strain and stress in the muscles
  • Treatment using Laser therapy
  • Footwear advice given, ex. Type and features to look for in a shoe, lacing techniques
