​DIABETIC FOOT CARE:
Nail care, Ulcerations, Neuropathy

Patients presenting with Diabetes will require unique care of their feet. With Diabetes there is an increased risk of developing infections and ulcerations leading to amputations. Diabetes can affect blood flow to the feet and cause nerve damage called Neuropathy.  The best way to limit changes to feet from diabetes is to keep blood sugar levels within the normal range, establish a healthy walking routine and check feet daily for any changes.

CHIROPODIAL TREATMENT
  • Regular Chiropodial appointments to provide diabetic foot care
  • Diabetic Foot Screen which would include a Vascular and Neurological assessment of the feet
  • Education on proper way to care for feet at home
  • Footwear recommendations and advice
  • Possible orthotics, over the counter insoles or padding added to shoes to offload pressure spots
  • Treatment of any ulceration or wound that may develop
